i used to love instagram when i was younger!! it used to be so fun when the sole purpose of the app was to share your life and interests with your friends, when cringe was allowed.
I think the turning point for this was the addition of reels back in 2020, suddenly insta is not an app focused on photos anymore but rather focused on doomscrolling and brainrotting, it's not an envoyable app anymore. It created a whole different use and audience that is very unlikable.
does anyone know a way to remove them from the app? or is it inevitable? i know an app called SocialLite but it's not the best.

I don't know about you, but I really don't have fond memories with Instagram, it's not that I have a bad time with it or whatever.... I just don't really use it much even before the reels thing started.
But I feel like with the popularity of TikTok it's quite inevitable that Major Social Network Websites like "Instagram" and "Facebook" and even websites like "YouTube" is gonna jump on the trend and have their own version of it.

uff, i feel ya on that one. after tiktok skyrocketed in terms of reach, it seems like most major social media apps n sites added short-form content, which undermines platforms being unique, and defeats the purpose of the "social" aspect, if all you're gonna do is scroll through videos lasting longer than 1 minute!
and idk if it's that very thing that made instagram comments sections so toxxxxic, but i'm not doubting it...
ikr!! what's weird to me is that we used to have musica-ly and tis doomscrolling thing never happened, at least to me. it was when tiktok appeared that every other app tried to copy it like we didn't already have an app for that!!

the best we can do i suppose is fight the wave of ai slop and short-form content, and get enough people to jump ship onto alternative sites like this one. worked for me!!

@karol_teh_alien Exactly, in fact I like this quite better than "TikTok" and even "X" (Formerly "Twitter".).
So yeah hopefully we could get people interested to jump over here and be chill.
