Brought my DSLR out of its bag for the first time in almost two years

Hello, everyone

Yup, the title is pretty much correct - I bought myself a DSLR photo camera after getting a brief fixation on photography, and had some fun with it for roughly half a year before putting it away. And today, it sees daylight once more.

It's a Canon EOS 4000D - pretty much entry-level as far as things are concerned, but I still like it nonetheless. It's got very simplistic controls that would feel at home 20 years ago - pretty fitting for this place, eh? I've got a single lens, the one that it came with - good for wide angle and some macro closeups, and not much else. But a 512GB SD card when they were cheap.

I've uploaded some of the first of the photos I've taken with it, Kuldīga back around Easter of 2024.

Even for an entry-level, the sensor on this thing whoops even a flagship, such as my S23 Ultra (and even ones less dated), which enables some fantastic depth of field even for an amateur such as myself.

Check out the rest in my photos page - click here!

Stay tuned for more - I want to use this thing a lot more again!

Thanks,

Cordell

Nice, that photo you took actually looked really smooth and really good.

I'd like to see whatever photo you'll take with it in the future.

Yeah, I have a few that I've taken back in 2024 back onto my PC, but I'm quite eager to take more now... gotta justify that massive SD card I got back then after all 😂

Okay, but yeah you gotta justify that massive SD Card that you bought.

That's actually pretty good for a Nintendo Switch to be honest. LOL XD

It'll take some time, I had a look, and I've copied over 98 photos to my PC, in a folder that's 736 MB... so that's a lot of space for pictures 😅

Yeah quite a lot of space for pictures. LOL XD

I think for pictures alone I think 64 Gigabytes is actually good enough.

While 512 Gigabyte SD Card, I think that's pretty good for Music Collection for like FLAC Music.

I think you could have tons of music in it.

I had a look at Frontier Eternal, and in its .wav format, the 6 tracks take up 365MB, so ngl a 700MB CD-R is plenty as well.

Though the 10 tracks in Dream Walks take up a little bit more than that at 730MB. 803 including the unreleased track 😅If I recall correctly, FLAC takes up less space than .wav, actually with no noticeable loss in quality so... now that I think about it, why am I exporting as .wav... 😂

Well, if need arises, I can just take it out of the camera and use it as a general purpose card as well.
