Skullcandy headphones? Yay or Nae? (Headphone recs, PLEASE)

Hi all!! I'm in the market for some new headphones. I currently have the Bose QuietComfort 35 series 2, and they are SUPER old. Were origonally my dads, he gave them to me in 2022, and I've used them almost every day since. I've had to replace the padding twice, they've been through a change of schools, graduation, going into new studies, friendships made and lost, they help me cope through thunderstorms (becasue i'm scared of the), and so much more.

Late end of last year, early start of this year, they have started to just bug out. It had issues of refusing to connect, or connecting and then disconnecting, reconnecting, disconnecting, reconnecting (over, and over, and over), but instead of the disconnect/reconnect sound it would just click.ย Randomly, they would also just get really harsh static in one ear, and as someone with sensory issues, it can be VERY distressing. I actually stopped using them for three months because I was so on edge all of the time. I had spare ones, but they aren't as good, not as good noise cancellation, not as good quietly, not as good at fitting around my ears and head. I've gone back to them within the last five months, and the same thing is still happening.

It's gotten so bad that every 24-12 hours or when it does that clicky thing, I need to forget the device on whatever device I want it on, grab a pen, and force it into pairing mode (cause it won't go into that mode using my fingers) before connecting it.

I wouldn't be so annoyed about this if I didn't have sensory issues or if they weren't a near-daily thing I need in my life. I can deal with it at home, it's easy to at home. But in public and at my studies?? It gets frustrating and embarrassing.

Does anyone have any experience with Skullcandy headphones? Are they any good? If there is controversy around them (i've heard about Skullcandy around 2021 but don't remember what), what brand should I get instead?

I don't really care about the brand, but please keep in mind the following:
(Must have: non-negotiable, will not get the headphones
Preferred: Would like to have, but I'm not too fussed)

Must have:
ACTIVE noise cancellation (I need to be able to wear them during thunderstorms and not hear it)
Oval shaped ear cups (see link below)
Easy to understand mapping/controls
Double pressing play/pasue DOES NOT do anything to do with phone calls (picking up, answering or starting
Longish battery life (minimum 20 hours), can be worn comfortably for long periods of time (sometimes going over 6-8 hours a day)
Good sound quality!! I won't spend $200 AUD on headphones that don't have good sound quality.
Must have button mapping: play/pause, vol up/down, fast forward/rewind songs

Would like:
An action button that can be customised
Double pressing play/pasue skips through/fast forwards songs
Similar layout to my current ones (see: Bose Quiet Comfort 35 Series 2)
Over 40 hours of battery life.
Fast charging
I don't mind them being slightly different in terms of where the buttons are and having a few extra buttons!! But change is hard, and I will probably get overwhelmed and confused trying to learn 12 new buttons. I'm happy with having the same buttons do different things (see the last point in must have)
I won't mind some EQ!! Doesn't need it, but fine if it has it
Available at JB Hi-Fi (or other Australian electronic retailer shops) OR Delivery that isn't half the cost or more of the headphones)
Preferably under $400 AUD (please still recommend headphones if they are over $400 AUD!! I might be able to find them somewhere in Australia for cheaper)

Keep in mind!! AUD is Australian Dollar, i do NOT want USD and Brittish Pound or anything like that. If you're linking a headphone that's listed in another currency, please let me know what the Australian price is (or roughly what it converts to)!

It's late here as I'm writing this so I won't be able to read comments until morning, but thank you so much for reading!! I'm open to any headphones as long as they follow what I've written here! Would like links to be provided as I can be a little silly when it comes to finding stuff </3

Kudos: 1
