hi guys ! as the title says, i am switching back to a flip phone ! i used the kyocera digno 902kc previously for about 2-3 months... things didn't end well, as i just ended up switching back to my iphone 13 mini. the trade offs for me originally were not being able to access my banking information, no paying for parking when i go downtown (it needs an app for payment), no gps/maps, no work apps, and no life360 (my family loves stalking me).
fortunately i have... semi-solutions. i have downloaded organic maps, which is like an offline map app so i can see all the roads and everything ! as for banking information, i can just access it on my pc, which i feel is more secure and it makes me less likely to buy on impulse since i have to think about my spending and keep track of it (checkbooks am i right ?). i was able to download the app that allows me to look at my work schedule. unfortunately, i cannot find an apk of groupme that actually works on android 8. i will have to use a mixture of sms messages and the groupme website for work messages. for the life360 issue, i can just use an apple airtag for my family's peace of mind.
i have no clue on what to do about the downtown parking thing. i go to a lot of concerts so that would be an issue. same with apps such as ticketmaster, where i would need to be able to access the tickets on my device. however, since i am still going to use my iphone for recording and photos (mostly recording), i probably can still access the concert tickets offline if i download them into the wallet beforehand. at least i think ?
anyway, i am SUPER EXCITED to get my sim card in the mail. i seriously just love the form factor of a flip phone. i really wish they made cute modern ones that worked in the US. i think i'm totally gonna make a youtube video about my experience using a flip phone after about a month or two of using it !

hooray!! i'm glad that more of us just suddenly decided "hey, y'know what, smartphones are lame" and decided to go back to the way things were before, because it's probably not just nostalgia since we KNOW techbro billionaires are actively pumping the world with more LAME!! >:[
unfortunately i don't think i'm gonna get mine for a few months because my family doesn't want me ditching my current phone -_- so manually restricting myself is going to have to do. i've started reading more books actually!! and i think in the long run, being inconvenienced in a few ways is WAAAYYYY better than doomscrollin. cya round! :3
