Very excited, been wanting this for awhile now, also want Linux on it as well!

Any recommendations for getting Linux on it, and what is beginner friendly?

For a complete beginner or everyday user, I recommend going with a Fedora or Linux Mint. These two distros are really great for their simple package managers (dnf / apt) and both I believe have software pages or "app stores" to make it a bit simpler for you.
Now there are also distros like CachyOS, SteamOS, or Bazzite if you are gamer focused. Both CachyOS and SteamOS run on Arch Linux, which is geared towards the latest updates and features. Bazzite is similar but is based off Fedora.
If you were going to run a media / gaming servers, I recommend using Debian Linux or Ubuntu. There are way better options than Ubuntu in the year 2026, but it's not a bad choice for server usage as most VPS providers and WSL have Ubuntu as the default.
Since you are a beginner, I reccomend going with Linux Mint. Go on their website and grab the ISO. Use a tool like Rufus if you are on Windows or BalenaEtcher on Linux to make a bootable USB with the ISO file.
Follow a YouTube tutorial and you'll figure out that most of the linux installs are the same besides Arch. That...you'll actually install from the ground up. But Linux Mint should be pre-packaged enough for you.
If you are into AI, you can check out Omarchy but that's a controversial distro right now cause of how it allows AI on your system. Windows 11 with Co-Pilot is bad as it is but to each their own.
If you game, Steam is a must. Let me know if you need things like Minecraft or PC games working through the Proton Compatibility Layer. Like I said, Steam is a must as it makes this process soooo much easier.
