Ranking EVERY Pierce the Veil Album!!

Today I am going to rank EVERY single album released by Pierce the Veil! Let's begin!!

Disclaimer: This is just my opinion, so don't crash out in the comments :D

5. A Flair for the Dramatic (2007)

This was back when PTV was a two-piece band with Vic and his brother, Mike Fuentes. Vic did the vocals and guitar while Mike did the drums. But what a SPECTACULAR first album this was for PTV. The quality is so good it's unbelievable that this was the first-ever record they put out after their Before Today days.

Chemical Kids and Mechanical Brides is a great opening track, and then you have bangers like Currents Convulsive, Yeah Boy and Doll Face, I'd Rather Die Than Be Famous, and...well, pretty much the entire tracklist kills. 

This album is not bad per se, but they definitely evolved the production in their later albums to be even greater. But overall, I still love this album!

4. The Jaws of Life (2023)

The Jaws of Life is definitely PTV's most diverse record. The band shifted a little from their traditional post-hardcore sound to a very raw, emotional, grunge-sounding album. I was surprised at how versatile the tracks are, from the more poppy elements in Even When I'm Not With You, to a more classic PTV sound in Death Of An Executioner, to softer tracks like Resilience. You get a little bit of everything with this record, and it proves that PTV isn't afraid to experiment when they want to.

It was the band's return after a very long 7-year hiatus, which explains why the album feels so polished and intimate. Even though the record maybe wasn't what everyone thought it would be, I still enjoyed it from start to finish!

Favorite Song: Emergency Contact (close 2nd is The Jaws of Life)

3. Misadventures (2016)

Vic explained that the record was named Misadventures because of everyone's chaotic lives during the time of recording, and the name definitely encapsulates the album. This is one of their most technically polished records (probably right behind Jaws of Life). One strength of this is that all of the riffs (courtesy of Tony Perry) have their time to shine, which is something needed in more albums nowadays.

The band kept their high-energy, fast-paced sound while branching out into a more mainstream sound. This feels a little less post-hardcore and more pop-punk compared to their earlier work, but that helps the album feel tighter and more fun in its delivery. 

Vic's vocals definitely changed from Collide With The Sky to be more controlled, but I think his voice fits the tracks here. 

Texas Is Forever, Floral & Fading, and Gold Medal Ribbon are just a few awesome tracks from this album, but every track here feels like an absolute joyride to listen to!

Favorite Song: Circles (I think the meaning is very captivating bc of how dark and happy it feels at the same time)

2. Selfish Machines (2010)

Selfish Machines is a very special record in its own right; a masterclass of blending emo, post-hardcore, progressive rock, and even Latin elements that help all of the songs shine.

Besitos, The Boy Who Could Fly, and I Don't Care If You're Contagious are all bangers in their own right, and Jeremy McKinnon from A Day to Remember even provided guest vocals for Caraphernelia.

This remains one of PTV's most classic and foundational albums, and it revolutionized the post-hardcore scene. It's ALWAYS a great re-listen. I rank it higher than the last three records because of the legacy this record has on the entire scene.

But there is one record that I think iscbetter...

1. Collide With The Sky (2012)

From start to finish, Collide With The Sky never misses. The record starts off strong with Hell Above, A Match Into Water, and obviously, King For a Day, which features Kellin FREAKING Quinn from Sleeping With Sirens. This was and still is one of the greatest collabs (and music videos) of the 21st century. The song really blew up on TikTok a couple of years back, but it was absolutely justified because of how amazing this album is as a whole, and it introduced PTV to a much bigger audience.

You have more iconic tracks like Bulls In The Bronx, Props & Mayhem, I'm Low on Gas, Hold On Till May, and every single collab feels special. The songwriting is special. The instrumentation is special. And pretty much everything else because of how refined it is!

This is undoubtedly PTV's best album to this day and one that I will always come back to!
