Nicknames/petnames

I saw someone talking about this so i will too. I just feel like nicknames/petnames are just so subjective right? Sometimes i feel like society doesnt use them as much as id like to but sometimes i feelmlike they are crossing lines. For example sometimes id drop a “my love” or “baby” but not because im flirting or anything, im just saying them because and then someone else would think im flirting when im not. But at the same time, sometimes i take them too seriously because if someone calls me “sweetheart” or”princess” i just completelt melt even though when i use them i say “its not that deep” but when someone else uses them i take it very personally. Honestly i feel very conflicted about them and it genuinely dependd on my mood for how id feel about being called one or using one

Hmmmm well I like some pet names but I feel like some are kinda creepy? Like calling your partner mommy/daddy when that's what you called your parents when you were a kid... I feel kinda off about baby/babe too because I just never understood how like a

:baby:

became a nickname for your partner but that one is just my opinion, do you know the reason behind it? I'm curious :worry:

But other petnames are pretty subjective yesyes

Honestly i never really found baby uncomfortable probably because english isnt my first language so it just doesnt seem as weird but i would never call my partner/friend baby in my language because that would creep me out surely. Same for mommy/daddy. Some things just dont creep me out as much because i dont perceive them as what they actually are

That makes sense! I wasn't saying they're definitely creepy, those are just my takes on them. I just never really got them
