something that really pisses me off is that my grade 9 math teacher acts like we’re babies. like no, it’s not plussing or minusing, i’m not gonna times 5 by 4, i will add, subtract, and multiply. almost my whole class calls it the incorrect name because of her, and it just pmo like grow tf up

Personally, as someone who teaches math to a bunch of different grades 6-12, I can't think of a better way to efficiently say "5 plus 4". I could say "add 5 and 4", but if you are trying to ask a question, you would never say "what is the addition of 5 and 4?", you would either say "what is 5 plus 4?" OR "what is the sum of 5 and 4?", and much the same with subtraction, e.g. "5 minus 4" or "the difference of 5 and 4" as opposed to "subtract 5 and 4".
Using "times" for multiplication is also valid, maybe even more so! I don't think it's in anyway improper to say "5 times 4". Again, you could say "multiply 5 and 4" but if youre asking a question you would never say "what is the multiplication of 5 and 4"
ALTHOUGH to vindicate you, I don't think I would ever hear anyone call adding "plusing" or subtracting "minusing" outside of initially teaching the idea. Using them as a verb between two numbers ✔ Using them as the name for the operation ✖
TLDR; they might be more valid than you think, but calling it "plus-ing" and "minus-ing" instead of "addition" and "subtraction" does sound rather elementary school level.
