It’s no secret that my state (Virginia) is in a drought. We have been for the past month or so. Pattern shift because we aren’t in the crotch of a ridge anymore. May be touch and go, moisture loading isn’t that great… but something is better than nothing and I’ve been itching for a storm chase, haven’t been since last year.

In that case, let the storms come to you, grab a few photos if you can. Might not be a direct hit but you don’t always need one. As long as there is a planet earth there will be storms. I’d say your chances are pretty high of catching something cool.

I am soooo jealous. My state has been going crazy with tornadoes this year and idk how to storm chase and read radar and stuff which sucks! I also don’t wanna destroy my car, so I can’t really drive to a storm anyway😅 I’d love to tagalong with someone though!
The risks are real, tagging along is great practice however, and learning to read a radar is kind of a lost art nowadays. There’s a lot of much wailing and gnashing of teeth about “the green is next to the red OMG!”. At the end of the day all that hype is really just noise. Send over a radar image and I can help you interpret it if you want.
