This is how I check the master for my first album (restoration updates)

In a new episode about my first album, here’s a look at my mix review space. It’s pretty simple from the outside: two tracks, one with the crude files I uploaded to streaming services last year, and another with the sound engineering I’m just now applying to them. I commented previously on why this particular case was so difficult: most of these are recordings that my younger self captured in poor-quality files without any knowledge of sound engineering.

Checking the master

The colors indicate my progress so far. The darker green sections are the work I’m satisfied with. The lighter green sections have details I want to correct. I’ve let this rest for many days, and only then did I notice those mistakes.

You can see that two tracks are still missing to complete the final archive. It looks like I’m almost done. Unfortunately, these are problematic cases where I’ll have to take a serious decision. It’s a challenge, but it will be finished. I hope it turns out for the best.

I’m really happy with what’s already done, though I’m a little tired of the slow progress and the ever more complicated tweaks. It’ll be a respectable way to showcase my eccentric beginnings while enjoying the sound (if you dislike it, that’ll be just because of the composition or the music, haha).
