Monster Double Feature: Nitro and Irish Creme

Yes that's right! I am ranking two different flavours of Monster today!

Just a quick note: I did not drink both of these at the same time. I would die. I bought a case of the Nitro about a month ago and have been drinking those. I just forgot to review them.

Let's start with the Nitro Super Dry.

If you are unfamiliar with the Nitro line, Monster replaced the typical carbon dioxide used for carbonation in their drinks with nitrogen gas. This produces a smooth flavour and a creamy thick consistency while still having a bit of that poppiness you would expect. There were three flavours released: Super Dry[which is like OG Monster], Cosmic Peach[similar to Ultra Peachy Keen] and Blue Flash[a European exclusive]. Sadly, the line in the States wasn't very popular, so Monster is planning on discontinuing it within the next couple of months. So if you want to try it, get it soon. A warning, as these are quite expensive, with a case of 15 cans running you a whopping $45.

The can design looks pretty similar to OG Monster, but with a black Monster logo and a sort of spray painted green texture. The blurb reads as such: "One of our best kept secrets in the energy drink game, Monster Energy Nitro will blow your mind! Super Dry is nitro-infused creating a smooth, creamy texture that is better experienced than explained. With a full-load of Monster's classic energy blend, Monster Energy Nitro's got the boost you need."

They aren't wrong. This is indeed one of the most unique variants of Monster you can get. The texture is indeed extremely creamy, kind of similar to the Java line. It actually contains whey protein, so that makes sense. It also feels quite dense, which ain't bad. The actual flavour is extremely similar to OG Monster, but a bit more milky. It's like if Monster jumped on the dirty soda trend.

Overall, it's definitely a unique experience. It wasn't my favourite by any means, but it will be somewhat missed. The last can in my fridge I'm saving for Halloween. 7/10.

For the Irish Creme, I'm honestly a bit worried. Partially because I don't like canned coffee, and partially because I don't have the best experience with Irish coffees. I experienced my first hangover with an Irish coffee and haven't been able to drink them since.

The can is kinda cool. It has the same wood texture as the other Javas, but with a super eye catching green color. All of the other Javas are some sort of brown, so this one stands out quite a bit.The sides feature a skull cosplaying as a lepracon, a metallic gold horseshoe, lots of shamrocks, and even a pot of gold. This does come off as quite stereotypical of Irish people, but I don't care enough to make a big stink about it. Either way I still like the can. Blurb: "As luck would have it, you're holding the new and improved Java Monster Irish Creme! It's a taste straight from the old sod. Rich, lush, and coffee forward topped with signature sweet Irish creme flavor and supercharged with legendary Monster energy blend. Coffee done the Monster way, wide open, with a take no prisoners attitude and the experience and know-how to back it up. You found this can, so you've already got the luck of the Irish going for ya!" The blurb made me roll my eyes a bit, but whatever.

It's interesting. It tastes like it has whiskey in it, but it doesn't. It's like Mean Bean with whiskey in it. Already feel like I'm getting a headache. 5/10 not personally a fan. To give them credit, it does taste like a REALLY CHEAP Irish coffee.
