I feel like the "stay Weird" top from Brandy is giving the "You need to nerd out trend" in a way. It reminds me of when people would participate in that trend and then put Starbucks, Roblox, and taco bell as their nerdy interests. This is not to hate on people who like the stay weird shirt at all by the way. Considering that Brandy Melville's target audience is thin white girls, the people that can either fit into or want to wear the stay weird shirt seem like the kind of people to consider bedazzling things a nerdy hobby.

girl you get double kudos from me for this because brandy melville gets no right to capitalise off of the very thing their main demographic bullies people into self hatred for, well put
girl see you get it!! Someone has gotten mad at me in the past for saying this since that person said that people are multidimensional and I shouldn't hate on them for being basic, but that wasn't my point. I don't hate basic people whatsoever. I just think that the people this shirt is targeted to often call themselves nerdy and then go and make fun of other people for having interests that extend beyond that basic level. By talking about the shirt I'm just making a general statement, like it's okay to wear it and wear it legitimately, but it's not okay to wear it and then make fun of other people for having more obscure interests. Sorry for the loooong response I'm just glad you get it.

no dude you’re just fine because you’re CORRECT. anyone who says otherwise is either oblivious OR part of that SAID DEMOGRAPHIC!!!!!!! like you can be “basic” and be weird at the same time. this shirt is specifically targeting the people who are absolutely NOT “weird” and like you said call themselves nerdy when their main interests consist of talking to chatgpt and going to chic fil a and calling it a ‘hyperfixation’. like you said, if you wanna wear the shirt go right ahead but like … why are we buying something like that from a brand known to be overtly racist and fatphobic (which is usually the backbone of thinking people are “weird” and bullying them) … not to mention most of brandy melville’s shit is so easy to make on your own or find similar DECENTLY FITTING PIECES secondhand from other brands and sources like holy moly it’s inherently cringe all around
(also don’t worry about long responses i am also a talkative mf)
