Amateur writer here, but I’ve written at least a dozen now and here are some things that I find helpful!

1. Imagining song titles:

I find that having a song name in mind helps me get an idea for a theme or vibe that I want the song to have! It makes coming up with songs a bit easier

2. Find a melody first rather than focus on lyrics

Humming a melody can also help you get a grip on how you want your song to sound, and it helps me get an idea for flow and whatnot

3. Listen to an instrumental you like

Sometimes, having an already established sound helps you imagine lyrics- I’ve done this with two songs of mine, you can always come up with a new instrumental (which is a lot easier now that you have lyrics)

4. And try to find a flow for your words, and fill in the blanks

Sometimes, thinking about how the lyrics should sound when you say them helps. This one is a bit more difficult to explain, but I see it as thinking of a song, but you don’t remember the lyrics, so you mutter the pattern until they come to you. It’s kinda odd

5. Try not to overthink thing

Sometimes, you’ll have a good hook, get caught up trying to make things super flow-like, and mess up something that could be good. If things don’t sound right at first, sometimes you just gotta wait and come back to it

Then again, these are things that work for me, it may be difficult for you- it’s just some advice from my own experience! I think you’ll do great tho
