hi, everyone! if you haven't guessed by the title, the purpose of this entry is to show off some of my favorite cutesy, mascot-y characters! these aren't ranked in any particular order— i love them all! let's get right into it! (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)
- Little Twin Stars: i love their pastel colors and soft celestial aesthetic! even better when they're paired with Vocaloids Kagamine Len/Rin! when we're in Sanrio Character Ranking season, these two are who i usually vote for. also, while their current designs are very cute, i'm more drawn to how they were portrayed in the 70s/80s, especially in merchandise. still my favorites either way!
- Cheese Ikka: underrated San-X characters!!! this adorable family of little cheeses deserve more attention! i originally found them through an unofficial quiz that used the characters, and have loved them ever since. i'd get merch, but anything i find that isn't stationary is rare and expensive ;w; i'd make my own plush, if i knew how.
- Cinnamoroll: a classic, beloved (and behated, somehow? (-‿-")) by all. a cute puppy who bakes, what more could i want in life? not much to say, other than that this character is incredibly popular, haha
- Gloomy Bear: this 2000s icon was really popular with the scene kids back in the day, at least from what i've seen. there's also a very short series about them on YouTube (12 episodes, each a minute long), and it's about Gloomy living with their caretaker, Pity! i find it very sweet that despite the fact they experience near-death every episode, Pity still loves Gloomy endlessly. ... and that's sort of the plot of each episode, lol. anyways, super cute scary bear, they've collaborated with Vocaloid and NEEDY STREAMER OVERLOAD, very cool!!!
- U*SA*HA*NA: honestly, her colorful design is so so cute. she had her own dancing minigame in the Nintendo DS game Hello Kitty Party, too! i think if i were to associate her with a style or aesthetic, she'd fit right into the decora scene. all you gotta do is dress her up!
- Miffy: did you know that i used to be afraid of Miffy as a kid? sounds crazy, i know! i used to think the x-shaped "mouth" was creepy, and the intro to that claymation style series she had scared me so bad. ironically, i now find her very adorable! i think what fixed the problem was watching the original, 2-d animated series. it felt more storybook-ish, if that makes any sense.
and there you have it! those were just a couple of the characters i really like. if i listed them all, we'd be here forever ꉂꉂ(ᵔᗜᵔ*) thanks for sticking through to the end of the post, i hope you liked seeing these cuties!! let me know if you have a favorite mascot/cute character, doesn't have to be from the list!
