First day of Music Uni Second Year

I had my first day back at uni after the summer today, i was kinda dreading it cuz I haven't practiced my drumming as much as i should have (I study contemporary drum kit performance). But it actually went well!! i showed up to my lecture about 10 minutes late because i woke up kindaaaa 12:30 in the afternoon and had to commute an hour to get there. When I got there I saw my first class of the day, said hi to the classmates i hadn't already seen over the last couple of days and took my seat. we worked on changing odd subdivisions in bars of 5/4, which wasn't necessarily difficult but definitely something you had to focus to wrap your head around. my lecturer noticed my Suicide Silence shirt (hes into the same type of music as me) and said cuz I like them i would find it a walk in the park when we went around individually to play the piece... like DUDE... WAY TO PUT PRESSURE ON ME!!!! But i guess pressure forms diamonds cuz it was a piece of cake and i almost nailed it on the first playthrough and got it perfect on the second!

my second lecture was a 101 with the other drum teacher. We didn't have 101s in the first year and I'm so glad we do now because i can actually get taught how to play the shit I ACTUALLY wanna know how to play. I explained that I'd like to learn more technique on a double kick pedal for all the hardcore/metal/punk that I play and he said that he grew up on thrash which I NEVER would have guessed. he gave me an exercise to work on the strength of my left foot and I think he assumed I had never used a double kick before because he was shocked at the volume and grid placement I was able to produce on my "first try".

after all this i had a short break to eat a burrito but then went back in for my last lecture of the day., Group Performance. It's a student led class so we had to use a criteria given to us online to set up a theme for our assessed concert in 6 weeks. we were given a list of artists, genres, themes and such to base our set list off of and from there we could pick whatever songs we wanted to play at the end of the module. i was pushing hard for the 2000s pop-rock theme that was on the list of choosable items. but I'm glad we settled on a 70s rock theme instead; as it was my second pick. we went through a list of artists and quickly learned "Call Me" by Blondie and "A Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin. i got a really shit video ofus going through Call me for the first time ever if you'd like me to upload.

Afterwards we all went to the pub next door for some drinks and I soon went home before I got too drunk. me and a few of my friends decided we were going to all get piercings together on the 8th of October, so when that happens I'm definitely posting about it! 

once I got home I tidied up the common spaces like the kitchen and living room and ate some food while watching my My Chemical Romance DVD on the projector. in a little bit i'm going to tidy my room, it's not too bad rn but it's better to do a little now than a lot later lol XD! and soon I'll go to bed!
