I just finished Forrest Gump, so here's my opinion.
I told my mom before watching it that I planned to and she said she watched it once and it was enough, alright but not worth a rewatch. I went into it thinking it would be disappointing, but it really wasn't. I would certainly rewatch it if I'm in the mood, but it's memorable enough not to need one.
It is categorized as a rom-com and feel-good film. I was crying the whole time. I may just be an overly emotional person but this is no feel-good film. Not a single laugh was heard from me in the entire 2.5 hours.
But aside from that, it is a well made movie. The characters are well written, they feel like people instead of just movie characters. I hate it when you can tell they were written for one emotion or pattern or whatever, people are complex, they do not stick to one personality for their entire lives. I also liked the pacing, it didn't feel dragged out or rushed. And the way that it was narrated by him helps the pace, I feel. If we saw the scenes as they happened, it would feel rushed. Might just be a me thing though. And the fact that Forrest is stupid and goes through so many hardships but is still so kind and ends up with such a good life, I really enjoyed that.
