OK so I've been pretty boring lately, just rotting in my room and scrolling on Tumblr... I've also been watching YouTube on my TV, which has been fun considering the TV is new. My mom found it outside with a working remote, and now it's mine.
(Excuse the grammar, I'm using a Samsung galaxy S4 and I'm too lazy to turn off autocorrect. Also, this isn't how I really talk. My personality is an enigma!)
So anyways, with my prolonged exposure to the Internet I've been checking out random shit that looks interesting to me. Eventually I stumbled upon jirai. Specifically through Tumblr blogs posting about their lifestyle. Surprisingly, they don't talk much about the fashion, most of them just vent...? Which I guess makes sense considering the focus on mental illness that comes with jirai. The thing that attracted me to this though, was the way they used themes. It wasn't special really, I just thought it looked nice, so I looked into it and found an entire subculture.
My whole life I've been so unaware of who I am or what I really want, as my interests switch up often and my sense of style is entirely randomized. But when I saw this and checked it out I felt sort of connected. Now, it could be due to my previous interests in similar styles I had at the age of 11, but still.
It's really cool to me. The fashion is so good... and it's not all the same, either. It's actually pretty flexible, apparently? You don't have to dress super casual or super formal, you can go either way. You can dress comfortably or you can wear detailed lacy outfits covered in little decorations. I appreciate that because sometimes I really just want to wear a sweater and not have to coordinate a whole thing to go out...

So, a question to all jirai fans or anybody into J-fashion in general, where are the best places to find clothes that fit the subculture? And what are your favorite ways to DIY? I'm usually pretty broke and all I've got is the thrift. ![]()

I don't really know much about the whole jirai culture but the people I've met are super nice and really freaking pretty.
