tried to watch a schlocky halloween-y horror movie tonight but kept striking out. cabin fever is an eli roth movie and i just didn't want to do that. see no evil was 30 minutes of sloggy bullshit, and probably more but i dipped. eventually defaulted on one of my simmering faves...cruel intentions.

i know it's a confirmed camp classic but i think i'm a bit of a sleaze for finding it legitimately hot. my great search is to find the lez ryan phillipe to my 'anyone else in that movie'. it's so sick and evil in that way only 90s movies are. haven't seen the tv show and i'm sure it's lackluster - has anyone seen it? the 2020s just don't do gnartsy erotothriller like the 90s did, but it feels like it's what we all need....just pure evil rich kids ruining lives. it's truthful!

the soundtrack is so of all time too....i bet the second you see the words 'cruel intentions' you hear the strings. under-remembered though is the opening to placebo's 'every me, every you!'!! my first exposure to that song and it rips. also love the lovefool needledrop in the pool & the use of praise you. it's so comforting...i feel like cruel intentions has the perfect combination of 90s colour palette and summer setting to be an ideal late august-early september movie. it's like a very specifically blooming flower and i need to sniff it while it's here. christine baranski is also very underrated here. so hateable. & i need smg's metallic red nail.... that blackened red is so good. if anyone knows a tall, curly, slightly evil but secretly sensitive butch with stupid little glasses....let me know ![]()
