Half-Baked Ideas about Loneliness in Media

I’m still a bit conscious on how much I share/over share on the internet because I never really do that (don’t get me ya’ll:alienfinger:). I loved Flirting so much as a senior in my final year of high school (alr graduated) because it was the first piece of representation I had seen for rural Australians! Which is almost me! People in there looked and sounded like my surroundings and reflected my school experiences in Australia. Living so far away from everything and being unpopular in high school was the best formula for loneliness and I felt extremely seen by this film. Loneliness makes you so passive and you just receive all sorts of good and bad treatment from people and you get used to not being the main character in your own story. So many experiences “happen” to you and it’s so hard to take action over your life because of the screaming void that lacks connection and human touch. I am very happy to say that I am no longer lonely, but I have been for about 12 years in which I experienced lots of bullying. And I used the internet as a coping mechanism (and it worked for the most part) so I hope anyone who’s reading this and is lonely knows that they are not alone. And I hope that maybe I had good vocabulary and some people will be able to describe their loneliness better because it is really hard to describe. :holdhands:

The Woyingi Blog describes this film as well and it’s one of two reviews I can find! : https://woyingi.wordpress.com/2011/01/10/film-review-flirting/
