World Rock Day: a legacy that spans generations

Celebrated on July 13th, World Rock Day honors one of the most important and influential musical genres in history. The date commemorates the historic Live Aid festival held in 1985, which brought artists together for simultaneous performances in England and the United States to raise funds to fight famine in Ethiopia.

Among the greatest international icons are Queen, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Nirvana, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Linkin Park, Avril Lavigne, and Amy Lee—the lead singer of Evanescence, who defined a generation with her unique voice and unmistakable style.

In Brazil, rock has also written an unforgettable history. Legends like Raul Seixas and Rita Lee paved the way for the genre in the country, alongside bands and artists such as Legião Urbana, Titãs, Os Paralamas do Sucesso, Barão Vermelho, Capital Inicial, RPM, Engenheiros do Hawaii, Os Mutantes, Raimundos, Charlie Brown Jr., Pitty, CPM 22, Skank, Jota Quest, and Mamonas Assassinas—all of whom left their mark on different generations and cemented the status of Brazilian rock.
