Hobby Bloat

I'm not sure why this took so long to put out. I'm sure plenty of it was simply procrastinating, although I did initially have good reason for that, it being this coursework we were assigned that we were given 3 weeks to finish. That was all over and done with on the 20th. So what after that? Procrastination. Maybe that COVID piece I wrote took it out of me, maybe my ditching of the original draft of this month's blog after I watched Murder Drones, deciding to give a review of it, and then getting to episode 7 and being really uncomfortable with the usage of an old church and a crucifix in that way. I can understand why that was done, what with imagery of purification and exorcism of evil spirits and all that, but something about it felt horribly sacrilegious. I pushed forward regardless and finished watching it 4 whole years too late (the original title was something like "Murder Drones: an Overview, 4 Years Late" lol), and while I can't definitively say whether or not that was desecration of a church, I really didn't like it. If enough people express interest in my Murder Drones opinions and thoughts, I might make that my November entry, but I'll talk about something else for now. I guess this is both random chatter and a half-question, I don't know.

I like doing a fair few things. I like reading books, I'm currently halfway through the second book of the Power of Three arc in Warrior Cats. I like playing videogames: I'm part-way through Donkey Kong Country, Pokemon Red, and Spongebob Creature from the Krusty Krab on my Game Boy Advance; I'm part-way through Super Meat Boy on my PlayStation Vita, and have a Minecraft save on there with a cave-home, 2 dogs, and a big waterslide; I have Nintendogs and Animal Crossing: Wild World on the DS; I'm part-way through Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, and have Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Tomodachi Life on my 3DS; I'm part way through Sonic X Shadow Generations and have Animal Crossing: New Horizons on my Switch, with plans to play the Skyward Sword remaster soon; on computer, I'm playing through Metro 2033, haven't touched Deep Rock Galactic in a while, play Piggy and Eternal Towers of Hell on Roblox, am planning to be heavily active on Polytoria thanks to the Trick O' Toria event, and haven't completed any FNaF game in full outside of Security Breath, despite me owning all of them up to the Security Breach: Ruin DLC. I like drawing, both for myself and others, and have joined this year-round ArtFight-esque site called ArtAttack. I like making stories, with my main focus being this whole Amushana shtick I've had in my head since ~2016 (its earliest roots date back to ~2011), including archiving stories from its beta variant before I forget them. I like making and designing webpages, like my own website that will be undergoing revamps, including the addition of a custom-made guestbook.

And yet, I will often procrastinate on most of these to prioritise one a lot of the time. I don't remember the last time I picked up that GBA, for instance, and if my hunch is correct, that hasn't been since early on this year around February time. My Nintendogs are probably starving, and my villagers in all 3 Animal Crossings are probably wondering where I am (not that New Leafers and New Horizoners will care all that much, I'm sure they'll go back to regular conversations with me after an initial "DUDE WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN :("), and my Miis on Nakashi Island might be thinking the same thing. At least my Vita Minecraft dogs are frozen in time, so for them I'm technically still there. I've been meaning to practice human proportions and perspective, as well as backgrounds and shading, but that's been pushed to the sidelines quite a bit lately. Heck, I haven't opened Dark River in a bit, and I generally quite like reading Warrior Cats! Minus trying to memorise everyone's names and remembering what they look like, it's an incredibly easy read, and can be quite exciting at times, so what's up with that? Simply put, I'm overwhelmed with choice. And I've been trying to think about how to remedy that.

The only solution I can really come up with is timetabling when I can do what hobby, in a round-robin fashion. For example, one day I draw, the next day I play on the GBA, the next on the DS, the next on the 3DS, the next on the Vita, the next on the Switch, the next on my laptop (assuming it's good enough to run Metro... at least I can do FNaF since that's all just PNGs), the next I can get work done on my website, the next I can write some stuff and develop new Amushana lore more. The reading will probably happen more frequently, since that doesn't involve the use of screens and I can do it right before bed without having to worry about blue light keeping me awake, and maaaaaybe the GBA could get a bit more time because of that reason (my model is the SP AGS-001, which has a front-lit screen that can toggle the light on and off, but my use of it will depend on how well I can see the screen without all sorts of shadows or bright lights getting in the way). For those who deal with a lot of things they enjoy, does this kind of system work for you?

Oh wow, an actual short blog! Well, that's just what I get for leaving this for the last minute. See ya.
