During this summer (2026) i worked as a cleaner/maintenance person thing and it was humbling to say the least. it wasnt even necessarily the job itself which was weird af it was everything else.. but also the job. however, it fuelled me in many ways to find fun things to bring myself back to life and feel like myself again after wearing painting clothes around london for the summer and leaving my sisters at 7am to go straight to work wearing my pyjamas on the tube and downing a lucozade. I YEARNED for fun, excitement a place of belonging during a summer/life i felt/feel like an alien girl
. An alien girl scrubbing rock solid skid marks off of rich kids toilets with my sweaty T-shirt over my nose and my sweaty sticky blue gloves. During my lunch breaks i was googling my ass off trying to find emo gigs in london i could go to on my limited days off (which were always during the week so i had very little luck) :( and after goooooogling and searching instagram i found a blog post about underground gigs in london and had a look for the bands mentioned on instagram. by some miracle i found it i was IN and unforetunately i couldnt make it to the next gig NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO AAAGHHHH but no need to fear! by ANOTHER HUGE miracle, in the month of October which is a rare thing to have any sort of luck in, there was an underground guerrilla gig NEAR ME!??!??! HUH WHAT OKAY OKAY. long story shart i went. we went and i have never felt more alive and belonging. i was with a bunch of aliens feeling the best ive ever felt
so thank you to the crazy people who organize these i love you all i cant wait to become just like you and thank you to the skid marks for making we want better than the life i was living.temporarliy.
