so uhh I’ve been in a reading slump for several months and I really want to know how to get out of it. I remember being an avid reader when I was 3-4 years old and speaking in full complete sentences. But ever since I got a hold of social media very young I really haven’t had the energy to read. On Friday, I got to check out the school library and seeing all of those books in there made me realize how much I am missing out because I am constantly online. As of today, the books I have checked out from the library are “The Fault In Our Stars” and “New Moon” I haven’t started reading them yet but I have until October 2nd to return these books so can anyone plz give me some tips on how to stop being in a reading slump 🥹🥹

I feel you, dude. I used to be able to read 200-page novels until my LifeCoach decided to start dragging me out of the house three times a week. I was forced to wander aimlessly around the mall for hours, and that's where my YouTube addiction really took hold, because I got so bored and desperately wanted something to take my attention. It really didn't help when she pigeonholed me into getting a part-time job at the same time I was dealing with my first college semester with late-night classes. My brains have been reduced to jelly ever since. I can barely read to the bottom of a TVTropes article without getting distracted.
This might be a silly suggestion, but what if you started reading again with children's picture books? I mean, think about it. You could train yourself to read to the end of a 10 page baby book each day, until you feel concentrated enough to tackle 15 page books, then 20 page books, then 40 page books, and so on until your brain feels sharp enough to read whole novels again. Actually I should try that myself. Maybe I can regain enough of my mind that I can finally read through The Life She Was Given, an old novel I keep telling myself I'm gonna read more than the first two pages of.
