I've studied starvation and weight loss, and it's not just about calories in, it's about what kind of nutrients.
If
you ate 600-800 calories a day, there is a horribly painful way you
will fight to lose weight doing that, and an easy way BUT you have to be
careful of what you eat. There are ways to lose weight permanently
easily, ways to lose weight with great difficulty, and most importantly,
ways to lose weight initially and then put even MORE back on unintentionally. So please read carefully as not understanding even one aspect will lead to your unhappiness and frustration.
Your body has 3 metabolic phases to make energy that occur IN THIS ORDER OF PREFERENCE!
1. Carbohydrates (The 1 dollar bill of energy)
2. Fats (Ketosis)
3. Proteins (ACTUALLY starving to death) ((Or really stressed out!))
Here is a calorie breakdown by volume, eating things with less calories per volume will make you feel more full, without making you gain weight as easily.

Carbohydrates/sugars/glucose
(all the same thing) are what most americans are used to eating heaps
of. This is fleeting energy, usually after eating carbs your body is
hungry again within a few hours. If you are craving food AND you have
fat on your body, being in this carb fuel processing mode is why you
feel hungry.
The carbs deplete and your brain starts to run out and
goes omg I need to eat more! (Even vegetables are almost entirely carbs
most of the time.)
For most of human history, we lived most of our lives in the second phase of metabolism, which is called ketosis,
where we live off of our stored body fat and hunger goes away. If you
only drink water, and go without eating for several days, even the
average american's carb acclimated body will stop feeling hunger, AND
you will have plenty of energy. (More energy than you are normally used
to even!) It's just having the resolve to get to that point is difficult
for most people, especially those whose bodies have never spent time
fasting or in ketosis.
Luckily there is a trick, if you are VERY
careful about exactly what you eat, if you ONLY consume proteins and
fats, and NO CARBOHYDRATES, your body will enter ketosis. So you can
still eat and your hunger will go away eventually. You have to be VERY
strict because even seasonings often have enough carbs to keep you out
of ketosis, and feeling hungry, irritable, etc. especially if you don't
do ketosis very often. So read all the labels for everything and if it
says anything more than carbs 0g, it's best to stay away.
Also
another IMPORTANT note is that food manufactures in the USA have a loop
hole to make their food seem "healthier" than it really is, basically if
you see a nutrition label that says 'servings per container: 300' or
some rediculous number they are probably skirting the regulations that
permit them to round anything below 5 calories worth per serving down to
zero. They do the same thing with Tic Tacs, so you think they are 0
calories even though it's pure sugar and very calorie dense just like
eating a chocolate bar.
Just fasting is one way to quickly
get into ketosis and is the fastest way to lose weight, but also your
brain and a few other systems actually NEED proteins. So if you don't
eat enough protein each day, your body breaks down your current muscle
to feed your brain and do other vital tasks. So eating a small amount of
JUST meat per day is the best to prevent this gradual loss of muscle.
Otherwise what happens is you end up phyiscally weaker, AND more
importantly, the amount of muscle you have is lower which is what
determines how many calories you burn just sitting there. (This is
called your BMR, or Basal Metabolic Rate.)
In highschool I could
literally max out the leg press at the gym and still want more weight I
was SO strong, and I could eat like 3-4000+ calories a day at the time
and pretty much not gain any weight. So your muscle mass plays a large
role in how many calories you can take in and still have a low body fat
percentage. Growing that will allow you to eat more food without gaining
weight BUT to grow muscle you need to eat a lot of PROTEIN while doing
weight training to get to that point.
If you have been in
ketosis for a while, and you start running out of body fat, your body
will begin getting hungry again, that's when you HAVE to go back to
eating a normal amount of calories to maintain your weight.
Also
if you ignore the above ^ and are starving yourself for a long time,
don't suddenly eat a whole box of cookies, it could literally kill you,
it's called refeeding syndrome.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refeeding_syndrome
Gradually reincorporate carbs back into your diet when coming out of ketosis for extended periods.
These are also VERY useful and are a fraction of the calories of most flour wraps/corn based taco shells.

NO KETO MODE:
If you can't eat only meat or fast. Increasing the amount of FIBER in your diet will help. So basically maintaining the same volume with less calories. This is where eating salads will help, or incorporating lettuce, onions, and other vegetables like peppers into your meals will help. (As long as you don't end up eating even more food.)
Also adding OIL to things, vegetable oil, olive oil, etc. is one of the worst things you can do calorically. There are over 100 calories in a single tablespoon of vegetable oil.
Also, all those secrets being said, some like em thicc like me! >:3 Also for MOST guys a lil bit of fat on your body is not only good and healthy for you, but is also the most attractive to most men! :D
[I actually like girls of many varying body types, so don't be shy ladies, I'm single for the first time in my adult life rn ;) ]
