☾ My personal experience with my Kindle and why I chose mine!

What is my Kindle? when did I buy it?

Mine is a Kindle basic in the color Matcha! And I got it on December 2024 and use it daily

Pros & cons of the basic!

Pros: compact, cheaper, great battery life, handles my books, I can open AO3, Text size/font are customizable and you can save a setting you prefer so you don't repeat for every book and she's GREEEEEENNNNNNNNN

NOTE: a lot of people think that the color switch when they turn pages is not fixable, but it is, just go to settings -> Home and Library -> Reading options -> Turn "Page refresh" OFF

here's why common "cons" were no problem for me personally:

A- less storage: I currently have 20+ books on it with 350 average pages and haven't even filled half a GB, so 16GB go a really long way!

B-battery life: its important you understand these estimates are based on 30-45 reading time per day.... which I really exceed (an average of 1.5-2hrs a day), and even with that I only charge mine once a week!

C- warm light: my enemy. I mostly read in the dark and the warm light is too orange for me, especially that the Kindle's screen is E-ink so it's not a harsh light anyway and I keep my brightness around 10-12 out of 24 levels, so I was fineeeeee

D-it's not waterproof: I don't use it in the water and keep my bathing/swimming activities separate

so, this is to say she's perfect and flawlessssssss

I use it daily and it's really easy to load up my books there and manage my library and series can be put together which I love, if you're on WiFi you can access the web browser for simple websites like AO3 and download fics as epubs or mobis etc to be saved to your library and accessed offline

NOTE: mine came without ads, but you can pay to remove them or email amazon that a kid uses your kindle, and the ads are inappropriate and they will remove them permanently (It's ok to lie Amazon have enough money)

☾ Where can I get my E-books?

you can buy them on Kindle unlimited or any bookstore that offers E-books in your country

there is always piracy but as a literate person let's not hurt writers more than what they already go through ok? I will give you legal free ways :D

My favorite is Libby

it's an app where you can get a library card from your local library and borrow E-books, this way you're still supporting the writer, and it will motivate you to read the book within the borrow limit and not slack and they have a "Send to Kindle option"

There is also "Stuff your Kindle" events where Amazon puts a bunch of books for free/dirt cheap for permanent ownership of the copy, there's multiple dates a year you can look them up

If you have a membership with apps that do have E-books you can get them on your kindle too :D

Note: any copy you own can be sent to your Kindle via the Kindle app or a special email you will find in your setting or just your amazon account once you add the device there

☾ Making a whimsy amazing Kindle/ E-reader :3

Ah... the part everyone is waiting for!!, but first let me just flex my Kindle really quick :3

Front (I blacked out my name for privacy):

Screensaver Tutorial:

Note: for this you need to go to you Kindle's settings -> Screen & Brightness -> Turn "Show cover on lock screen" On.

I used Canva to make a costume size design, my Kindle's screen is 1072 x 1448 px , the background and little pics are from Pinterest, you can use any background removing tool u want or any app to do this not just Canva :3

the font for "[MY NAME]'s Kindle is from FontSpace, it's called "Sparkly font" by font diner, i did the shadow effect by putting two of the same size and sentence, your desired color + black

Font example for a clearer view:

This is the Screensaver without names, you can add yours or anything to fill the space:

After you make your design go to any online converter, turn the PNG to Mobi then from Mobi to Epub , this is necessary if you don't want black borders around the design, this makes it fill the screen

ANDDDDDDDDD since I crochet these are her dresses:

I try to make seasonal ones, brown for winter, green and pink for spring, I'm also making one right now for summer (will definitely show y'all when it's done) and will make an autumn one later :3

Hope this was helpful or just fun to read :D Thank you so much for reading! <3
