I should have stopped using a smartwatch long ago

I recently decided to switch back to the old Casio watch and see if my daily life improves.

It did.

I no longer have a gadget that constantly sends me notifications. I tried to keep it at a minimum, but for the health app it was a "all or nothing" situation so I didn't want to disable those. However, each morning I would wake up, notify my smartwatch I was awake, and see how "well I did sleep" that night. It was a constant stress, like being judged daily, if I didn't get enough hours of sleep, if I ate dinner too late or drank too much (which causes heart racing), etc.

Then I would get random alerts that "I am too stressed". Which to be honest, I am not sure how well that works, at least for Samsung Watch 4. There were times I was not stressed at all and I still got the alert anyway.

Also it was bothersome to worry about recharging the smartwatch every day.

Every 45 minutes I would also get the alert of "you need to move your body".

And finally, it got me a constant thinking of my daily steps. When I was not wearing the watch, I would be thinking how many steps I didn't register. Other days, when I saw I didn't do my 6,000 steps, it would make me feel bad about it.

I don't need this shit.

What I need is to have these things come natural. If I need to do 6,000 steps, I know I need to exercise at least 30min in the threadmill, (that is, if I didn't walk enough outside). I also know what I must do to have a good night sleep.

Some nights I will "misbehave" by staying up late, have some drinks with my friends, etc. Who cares, it's my life anyway.

I feel less anxious now. I can actually wake up in the morning and enjoy it. I can go to sleep just fine, leaving my Casio watch on the night table. And during the day, no more fucking notifications. If I need to improve my health, I will do it in the old fashion way. I don't need a gadget monitoring me 24/7 (and sending all that data to Samsung and third parties!).
