So a backstory on how i discovered this, i was on a bus home and saw this big box of dvds for free so, yk... i took it

ANYWAYS So in said bo, there are some good movies (not a lot i like tho) buuuut one of said movies was Blade Trinity

I was initially gonna get rid of this. My thought was "huh looks like a matrix ripoff" but then i googled and, Oh? VAMPIRES??
Oh yes. so i went downstairs where my parents were hanging out in the living room and was like "hey guys wanna watch a movie ive never seen before with me" and they were like "oh ya thats a cult classic" so we all just watched the first movie. and they said it was gonna be cringe like twilight and all that jazz.
but honestly? this movie was good. it wasnt as cringe as they made it out to be. and i think this is probably a new favorite vampire movie of mine too
like for one: the vampires. this movie's vampire lore is legitimately probably the best i have seen yet, or even ever. like the vampires in this movie do a really good job of still being vampires and having classic vampire traits like death by sunlight and silver and garlic but also not coming off as literal Dracula style vampires. I like that the vampirism is more of a virus than a magical thing. Plus, these are probably some of the least cringe vampires ive seen. yes sure theyre the whole "HISS AND GROWL WITH FANGS" thing but aside from that theyre actually VERY uncringe vampires, which is saying something considering that in my opinion its kinda hard to have vampires not be at least a but cringe. Like one of the things I liked a lot about this is that it defiantly did focus on the vampires but did so in a way that made them seem realistic. like they didnt try to make them hot vampires the same way twilight did.
And also the whole thirst thing? I liked how they handled it. cuz like, in mostly vampire things im used to the thirst being THE CONFLICT. like in twilight its a thing, its a thing in A Discovery of Witches, its a thing in Vampire Diaries. its usually this whole dramatic thing where the second a vampire so much as smells fresh blood they go into a feral frenzy. These vampires in blade are not like that. like it is established that the thirst exists and is a struggle for Blade himself but its not made out to be THE CONFLICT. like when he saves Jenson he isnt like breathing over her like he cant control himself its just in really intense moments we see it. i like that a lot cuz it shows that these vampires have a more realistic thirst mechanic than most. like the same way humans dont just GO FERAL if they havent eaten in 5 minutes and smell food the vampires are the same way and that I APPRECIATE
As for the story and setting and characters, its a good switch up. im very used to one: there being a prominent romance plot, and that was non existant in this (i dont count the whole blood drinking between Jesnon and Blade at the end that didnt strike me as very romantic), and also it focused on adults and not teenagers. Like the one thing about most vampire shows or movies is that they suffer from 2 issues: either its about teenagers or the romantic subplot is WAY To focused on. like this is an issue in A Discovery of Witches A LOT cuz it just makes it feel like a twilight ripoff (its 10x better than twilight quality wise but my point still stands). this movie also had a totally different vibe. it didnt happen in some small town it happened in a big city and usually had a lot of night stuff too
NOW I WONT SAY I DIDNT DISLIKE ANYTHING ABOUT IT
the writers made some... choices
for example, the mother. kBlade's mom at the end UGHH IT WAS SO GROSS. like shes leaning in like shes gonna fucking kiss HER LITERAL CHILD. like EWWWWWW very glad she died. and of course, i cant not mention that blood drinking scene with blade and Jenson. Like i get it, we HAD to have one of those scenes but it was... so over dramatic and romanticized. like Jenson's reaction specifically, like she should have been in pain but sounded in pleasure even tho there is no reason in this universe that that shouldve felt good (i say that cuz in some universes like ADOW vampire bites actually do have a reason to feel good for the bite-ee) and also, she just... got up after. Like dude, she should be fucking dying with the amount of blood he drank but she just stands up and starts running around like nothing happened
in general that whole ending scene was just quite cringe. the CGI was so bad its funny and like i said a lot of moments were cringe, like the pureblood guys all turning into skeleton bats for some reason XD
i do think that scene was supposed to be KINDA funny and unserious tho
needless to say tho, i did enjoy this
And let me tell you...
frosty boy... is not in fact cold.. he is hot XD
Sorry hes so gross personality wise but HES SO HOT VISUALLY. Like HIS HAIR. HIS FUCKING HAIR IS AMAZING. So yes i will be drawing fanart
ANYWAYS
One thing that surprises me tho: ive never heard about this movie. like at all. like you would kinda think that knowing me and my interests i wouldve heard of it since its like Matrix vibes but its vampires and i LOVE VAMPIRES but ive never heard of it at all. buuuut yk what, this is why my collecting of dvds is always good cuz look what i found! i wasnt expecting to find this but that Blade 3 dvd introduced me to a genuinely good franchise hehe
ANYWAYS THATS IT, if you have seen Blade and wanna express your opinion please do im genuinely curious about what other peeps think of this movie.
