I Went to See "The Odyssey" (+ mini film industry rant)

Last night around 10pm, I went with some friends to see the Odyssey movie that came out a few weeks ago. I've been really looking forward to this movie since last year when they announced it, I just hadn't had the chance to see it.

There were a lot of people (mostly nerds) who were worried about accuracy, both to the source material and to the time period where it took place. I don't know, as someone with a special interest in fashion history, and a history degree(s), I don't really like to let those things ruin a movie for me. Especially if you were to consider how long the movie already was with what was in it (almost three hours!!).

So, with all of that considered, I though it was a fine movie. The story was definitely good, and I loved the visuals and the cinematography of the film. Though, as a side tangent: what's with the same fifteen actors being in everything?? I felt like I recognized most of the main actors in this movie, and I feel like it's been starting to feel that way for a while now. I think that's one of the reasons "Obsession" was so well received, and that's because most of the actors weren't immediately recognizable before the film came out. Therefore, it doesn't break the audience's immersion.

Anyway, I did enjoy the movie, and I definitely consider the ticket price money well spent. It was a lot of fun going outside with friends, and the movie for sure lived up to the hype/anticipation.

Kudos: 1
