i feel like a lot of people don't really get the point of ddlc because the game genre it's a pastiche to, visual novels, is kind of just not a thing anymore

in visual novels and also just a lot of gooner type anime and manga there's always the tropey characters, including but not limited to the silly girl next door and the big boobed brooding one and the loli-bait tsundere one.

but sometimes there's the boring one that's just popular and smart and good at a lot and basically conventionally attractive that's just meant to introduce you to the setting and the girls you're supposed to be interested in because she doesn't have like a porn fantasy trope and that's who monika is, which is why when she gets self aware and realizes that's what she is, she goes a little crazy

idk i hate that monika is watered down to a yandere because like she was made to be a love interest and can't do that or anything else, she's a fake person made literally JUST for that, like if that was you you might do what monika did too. realizing your entire life is a gooner visual novel is horrifying
