Inside Mari (Shuzo Oshimi)

Okay, so yesterday night i decided to finish Inside Mari in one sit (even though i tried reading it like 2-3 times during the years but dropped it bc i procrastinate everything).

 It was pretty cool, I loved how Oshimi wanted to trick us all into thinking that it was a swapping bodies kinda thing, but in reality it was an introspective travel ''inside'' mari, mari's mind. 

I surely wanted to know more abt her mother but i think it was fine how Oshimi decided to let us see and feel her oppressing nature with js one panel.

I really need to re-read it, bc thinking abt it, it all fits. The way the real Komori doesnt understand nothing abt it, the way he just look at Mari with the same eyes everyone else do, how all that Mari's Komori knows abt the other komori is js what she watched from afar wanting to be him (like in the scene in which yori and her go pay him a visit at his parents house and mari says she doesnt remember this mother (reading this i thought the real komori inside mari was disappearing but then it all made sense)) or how through it all mari's komori starts to remember exactly  mari's memories (now i think it was js real Mari emerging). 

This manga is one of those Fight Club or Memento typa stuff.

The ending its a bit sour bc everything stay the same with her family, Yori makes (what i think) is one of those fake promises of lets keep in touch after going to the college and Komori keeps living his normal life trying to keep it up together with part-times jobs.

I dont think Yori is lame for this, in a certain way Mari's Komori really saved her from misery and theres nothing really wrong abt it. Sometimes people change and go separate ways. 

All she (Mari) wanted was to be seen for what she really was, not for what other people wanted her to be and after all this the real change was really ''Inside Mari'', she finally was free to be her true self.

Another incredible psychological masterpiece from Shuzo Oshimi.

P.S.

I loved how all she wanted was to escape this mental cages other people built for her but then she herself put komori in her cage of idealization, even building a whole new personality based off that.

I think this is a good representation of how the multiple personality disorder could work, creating unconsciously new personalities to protect herself from the external reality that causes her to collapse and making her wanting to disappear for real.
