So I love Pet Shop Boys a lot and I think more people should give their music a listen(I know they're popular, but I barely meet fans outside of Gen X).
Quick intro, they're a British synth pop-duo that began in 1981 and they consist of members: Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe. The two started their group when they met at a Hi-fi/electronics store and began to bond over their love of synth and electronic music, leading to them beginning to make music together.
In terms of getting into their music, you can never go wrong with starting with their first three albums:
- Please(1986)
- Actually(1987)
- Introspective(1988)
Their later albums are also good(loveeee Bilingual) as well as their newer singles, but these albums definitely give you good feel of what they're style is. A lot of people I've met sometimes say they don't actively listen to them because their music is a bit too experimental at times, so if you're into that, give them a go. Also they do take a lot of inspo from disco, so most of their songs really make me want to break out into dance sometimes.
If you don't feel like jumping into an album straight away, you can never go wrong with listening to any of my favourites:
- 2 Divided by 0
- West End Girls
- Opportunities
- Love Comes Quickly
- Violence
- What Have I done to Deserve this Ft. Dusty Springfield
- Hit Music
- I Want to Wake Up
- Heart
- King's Cross
- Left to My Own Devices
- Domino Dancing
- I'm not Scared
- This Must Be the Place
- Metamorphosis
- Electricity
Hope someone gives them a try and have fun :)
