Just friend zoned a guy :(

a few days ago, my friend gave this guy my number and told me that he liked me, but the problem is, i like someone else! worst part, this guy is super nice, so it was super hard to tell him i didn't like him. last night, he asked me to go to the first football game that's apparently on his birthday next week. now, i knew that was basically asking me on a date, and I felt bad. I don't even like football, so I decided to just tell him straight up. I told him that I only liked him as a friend, and that I loved getting to know him, but he should find someone else. then he had the audacity to respond with "didn't ask that but damn..." LIKE HELLO????? you literally told me last week that you liked me!!!! anyway, he then started texting me like a desperate ex. "if that's what you want..." "what did i do wrong?"  I told him he didn't do anything and that I just wanted him to be able to find someone else.  I said I wanted to just be friends, but if he didn't wanna be friends after, that okay too. he said he wanted to still be friends, but he hasn't texted me at all today. whatever. now I can try to get my own crush without feeling guilty. that's all the update I have for now! see ya, xoxo <3
