THE ART OF BECOMING: a poem by yours truly.
I learned to early how silence can speak,
How strong people can bend before breaking gets weak,
How hearts make a home out of fractures and seams,
And life is less solid than most of our dreams.
I chased what I thought was a permanent flame,
But fire,I learned, never stays quite the same,
it warms and it warms, it consumes and it heals,Β
It teaches you what life is like, how it really feels.
There were nights when my thoughts felt louder than the truth,
When time felt too fast for the shape of my youth,
When I measured my worth in the weight of my fears,
And called it being grown, when all I tasted were tears.
But slowly I noticed, between loss and relief,
That pain is not proof of the lack of belief,
That falling is motion , not failure or end,
And breaking is something a soul can transcend.
I stopped asking life to be gentle or fair,
Stopped begging for answers already in the air,
I learned that the strength I was waiting to find
Was quietly forming inside my mind.
Β
Now I stand in the space where I once needed proof,
Where scars form the walls and resilience the roof,
Still learning, still shaking, still choosing to stay,
Still human enough to get lost on the way.
And maybe thatβs all weβre meant to become,
Not perfect, not fearless, not hardened or numb,
But present, and honest, and brave enough to be a work still in progress,
But beautifully free.
