this is likely a tiktok only thing and im chronically online and a chud, but i'll say it anyway. you guys do know you're bullying twelve year olds, right?? for like no reason?????
first of all, lets define scenecore. scenecore is often confused with rave scene.

THIS is the average RAVE SCENE outfit.

THIS is the average SCENECORE outfit. kinda maybe i poorly made this collage myself
scenecore obviously derived from scene and a bit of decora, but tbh idk how it became how it is now. the basic difference is simple. scene in general has tight clothing, specific hairstyles, and music. scenecore has baggy clothing, no specific hairstyles, and music. that is basically the only difference between them. they both have similar political beliefs (basically left-leaning i guess kinda maybe probably), they both feature DIY, and they both are toxic as FUCK.
the main argument i see against scenecore is "scenecore is for posers bc they dont care about the politics of scene!"
first of all, scenecore emerged in the early 2020s on TIKTOK. it was woke as FUCK back then. they all advocated for queer rights, mental health, disabled peoples, etc. even if some were the devil incarnate. i may have been freshly nine years old, but those people on tiktok taught me about the gays, trans people, how to respect the queer community, and about mental health. shiii i wouldnt be the person i am today without them.
idk if ppl know this, but the only politics scene stood for back in the day (that i know of) was queer rights kinda sorta maybe not really. the scene look itself was supposed to be androgynous to fight against beauty standards, but many also embraced femininity when they were bullied by the men in the hardcore scene. i guesss they were left leaning kinda, but it was the internet in the 2000s. everyone was abusive toward each other, EDs were promoted everywhere, and women were shat on for photosynthesizing in the wrong direction. scene and scenecore's political views align almost perfectly, basically.
another argument i see defending scenecore is "scene is a poser subculture, it doesnt matter!"
i dont care about scenecore, but i reallyyy dont like this argument. let's all remember that scene was dominated by women back in the day. and let's also remember that scene evolved from the hardcore scene...the scene that hates women? of course scene kids were called posers, a lot of them were colorful women! scene has many origins from MANY subcultures, so the example i gave above is just one of the reasons scene was referred to as a "poser subculture".
not only did people hate women, they hated how their fashion was derived from emo, which derived from fashioncore. they were called colorful emos because they were reheating emo's nachos. there are many other reasons people thought they were posers, however, im 90% sure scene was called a poser subculture the most because of the amount of women in the scene.
"b-b-but scene barely has accessories!!!"
you are allowed to be scene and have an abundance of accessories on your body. just because THEY didnt wear a shit ton of accessories back in the day doesn't mean you're restricted from doing so. plus, there is always a chance that there were a few OG scene kids back in the day who over-accessorized. it is okay to express yourself, zeus will not strike you down. let's also remember that scene is a 20+ year old subculture. it's scary aint it, how styles evolve 0_0 people don't have to look like the broke teenagers that the og scene queens were. they can branch out and add their own elements, bc yknow self-expression.
what i really dont like about this whole fight is the fact that i see more videos online dogging on scenecore than i do talking about ACTUAL problems in the scene. i get you can worry about multiple things at once, but this is actually ridiculous. a scene kid royally pissed beyond the moon about scenecore probably isn't legally allowed to vote in any country -_- any grown ass adults mad about this are pathetic losers
what i also hate is people outside of the scene trying to label what is and isn't scene. like i said before, rave scene is commonly mistaken for scenecore. bc they have the audacity to have color. wowwww. and when i ask people in comment sections, "what makes this scenecore?" they just say, "cuz it isn't scene" or dont they answer at all.
STUPID BITCH. IF YOURE GONNA MAKE A CLAIM, BACK IT UP WITH EVIDENCE.
that is 6th grade ELA standards. it's obvious they have no idea what they're saying when they can't back up what they insist is fact. and this goes for scene kids too, some of y'all can't tell the difference between eighteen and purple idgaf about scenecore. they're not a real problem, and people in the scene bully them to ignore the ACTUAL problems in the scene.

nice & informative blog :^)
id say that in the current-day and looking back, scene could be classified as left leaning, but do note that even with embracing femininity in style, many people in the scene were still homophobic and misogynistic af [and many ex scene queens are MAGA].
if anything, scenecore is LESS of a poser subculture because it has such emphasis on politics in comparison to the OG scene subculture.
the only thing that annoys me nowadays abt scenecore is when people try to convince me that it's the same thing as scene, but other than that, scene and scenecore are their own unique subcultures w. different backgrounds. dont understand why ppl cant seem to leave em alone & acknowledge that scenecore DOES exist as its own thing and respect it.
