Listening Diary: Change Not as Much as the Style of a Letter - Bull of Heaven (Day 1)

I have been introduced to Bull of Heaven, and as a lover of music, I have taken it upon myself to give one of their long-form pieces a go! Change Not as Much as the Style of a Letter has a total runtime of ~16 days if you were to listen to it nonstop. I don't have that kind of time, and so I will be listening to bits and pieces of it.

Because this album (song, really. Its the one song on the album) is so lengthy, I have decided to start a listening diary of sorts. I know there are people on Rate Your Music who have done this, but I don't want to make an account there. So I'm doing it here.

My estimate is that it will take me a month or so to complete. I started it last night, just to see what it was all about (after listening to Superstring Theory Verified, which is very different from this one, and I imagine quite enjoyable to the average person). I got about an hour ajd a half in. Currently, as I write this, I am almost 3 and a half hours in.

So my current thoughts: I'm into it, weirdly enough. I can't seem to pull myself away from this one. It sounds mostly the same, a drone ascending and descending in pitch in a very slow manner. I have started to notice some new layers being added, or at least I think they're new layers. There seems to be this ringing overtone above it all every so often.

I've been using this as background noise for crocheting and I do like that I'm not having to change what I'm listening to every so often lol! It's oddly relaxing, I feel like I could fall asleep to this.

I had a doctor's appointment earlier and I was half tempted to listen to this on the way there, but I felt as though it just simply was not the vibe.

That's really it, I've just been chilling out listening to it. I'm about to go out for dinner and having turned it off, my house suddenly feels so... empty? Too quiet. And I realize that overtone is actually just the ringing in my ears since I cam still hear it faintly.

So yeah, I'll update tomorrow. And later I'm gonna try and embed the playlist onto this post so if any of you, for whatever reason, wants to do this with me, you can :)
