Living Dolls Era

Recently ive been on a sort of internet rabbit hole under the whole living doll aesthetic. The drama, the intrigue,  the sheer calamity of it all, it's truly something else.

However here's what I've found.

1. Most if not all "living dolls" have some sinister backstory. Venus Angelic, Valeria, all of them have similar unhealthy backgrounds.

2. Pro-ana and eating disorder were heavily encouraged. Unfortunately, to achieve this doll look these girls would undergo extreme diets to chase the figures of anime or doll girls. Furthermore, beauty was a huge deal because if you didn't have smooth clear skin and big eyes with a tiny body you weren't doing it right

3. East Asian Fetishization. This always seems to come up, huh? Well, basically, most of these girls either wanted to look like Barbie, a BJD Doll, or anime girl. For some reason anime girl look-a-likes always ended up doing some weird fetish stuff with Asia and Japan.

However I don't believe this aesthetic is all bad.

4. Paved the way for makeup YouTube and internet in general. Before that point there were no true makeup YouTubers or people who did makeup, now we had dedicated spaces for different niches

5. A new way to express yourself. You didn't have to look all dark, you got to look bright and dolly yet out there and happy. This also was the gateway for a lot of people to Japan and Japanese Pop Culture.

One day I'll become a doll. A real Noire Doll.
