magneto has always had and always will have valid points for what he does, like you can't make nice with the people that are actively trying to annihilate your kind. 'oh charles is the idealist and magneto is the realist!' but charles grew up in wealth and comfort whereas erik grew up in germany in the 1940s. the idea that charles xavier is somehow noble because he wants to work with the people that have done horrific things to their OWN kind and will canonically do horrific things to the mutants. also, professor x has indirectly harmed his own students because of this optimism, trying to befriend those people will never work out. xavier would understand this if he grew up in the real world, BUT HE DIDNT. thus summing up why x-men is a timeless dialog on humanity and it's pitfalls.
