What is mall goth?

For those who don't know, mall goth is kinda like emo.. but angrier! And with lots of nu metal. It originated in the 90s as a poser subculture, as the name states: in malls and was an insult to goths who would buy from large corporation brands, listened to the wrong music, and didn't understand the culture! So there's lots of Hot Topic and Trip NYC fashion influence. But I'd argue that people nowadays can be more conscious about their buying, beliefs, knowledge, and be a non poser mall goth! I mean it has its own fashion, music, beliefs (angsty attitude), brands, etc associated with it... that has to count for something
