me and my tamas :-3

this page is dedicated to tamagotchi so! i think it's appropriate that my first blog entry is about these neat little egg-shaped toys and how much they mean to me.

my mom got me my first tamagotchi in 4th grade, circa... 2014. it probably looked like this but it's been nearly 12 years so... my memory isn't perfect.

anyways, i was obsessed with this tiny little thing (in hindsight, it felt much bigger in my small, 4th grader hands) and i used it in every class. i was quick to finish my work, so teachers didn't mind, especially since i had it muted always. a sacrilege, i know, but i didn't want to risk it getting taken away.

i don't know what happened to that tamagotchi, and i don't think i want to know. i think about it fondly now; it gave way to my love for this simple, revolutionary digital pet.

timeskip to... maybe middle school, 9th grade? it's all blurry but my old best friend gave me a tamagotchi nano! gudetama themed, even, my favorite sanrio character! nanos are simpler, with a much smaller interface - hence the name nano - but i loved that little guy. i still have him, sure, but his battery has corroded his poor body :-( i hope he knew how much i loved him.

and finally, present day morrie's tamagotchis! i currently own 2 vastly different types:

  • my gen 1 original argyle tamagotchi! same format as my old one, but i did buy this one with my own money at walmart. i give it new batteries every now and then;
  • and my 20th anniversary japanese exclusive tamagotchi m!x. THIS is my pride and joy! i'll show a photo soon since i don't have one on my laptop, but if you are into the tamagotchi side of things, you know this is practically a gold mine for collectionists. funny thing is, it cost me 10 bucks at a university halloween booth. this guy was selling some stuff and he didn't know the worth of this guy and hey, i can google translate anything it if means i get to take this guy home! i change his battery constantly, i adore him.

my collection is still growing, and i want to get so many more, but i'm an art student with a job at a museum. my budget only goes so far.

but! that's the story of the tamas i've had. thank you for sticking around and reading.

i love you :-)

Kudos: 1
