Over on my other socials, I have been ranking every flavour of Monster Energy I have tried. Usually they're in individual posts, but here's a master list of all of the one's I've done so far. BTW this will not include Monster's alcoholic line Monster Beast, or the coffee line Java Monster. I can't really get Beast in my area, and Java is gross. I'm also going to put a [D] next to the flavours that have been discontinued.
- The OG: While iconic, it has a very odd flavour that's hard to describe. It's very acidic and a little bit salty. Not a fav 6/10. The sugar free version is marginally better, so it gets a 6.5/10.
- Reserve Orange Creamsicle: I love orange creamsicle stuff, so it was a hit. It is pretty sweet, and has a lot of sugar in it. The new can design looks way better than the original Reserve can. 8/10
- Lo Carb: Gross. Just gross. It tastes like if you take all of the sugar out of the OG, and left the acidic tartness. 4/10.
- Ultra Peachy Keen: Tastes just like you would expect, heavy artificial peach. I like that, so it's one of my go tos, especially since it's easy to find. 9/10
- Ultra Watermelon[D]: My dearly departed. It tasted just like watermelon Jolly Ranchers, which I love. Sadly, it was discontinued earlier this year. I know it wasn't very popular, but dammit I liked it. 8/10.
- Ultra Sunrise: Very citrusy. Tangerine with hints of mango. Pretty good 8/10.
- Ultra Strawberry Dreams: The former reigning champ of the Monster world for me. Strawberries and cream. Very sweet with less of that Monster citrusy bite. 10/10.
- Ultra Fantasy Ruby Red: Basically a worse version of Ultra Rosa. Heavy on the grapefruit with a lot of tartness. 7/10.
- Zero Ultra: Honestly the most overrated flavour of them all. It's not bad, just "safe." Similar to OG while not quite as strong. 7/10.
- Ultra Paradise: Very tropical. Flavour's a bit hard to describe, but I typically get hints of pineapple and kiwi. 8/10.
- Ultra Vice Guava: Just pure artificial guava. Like you melted down one of those guava candies. I'm not a huge fan, but in fairness, I don't really like guava that much. 5/10.
- Ultra Blue Hawaiian: Inspired by the drink of the same name, and honestly kinda gross. IDK it just tastes off to me, and I don't know why. 5/10.
- Ultra Violet: Apparently, it's supposed to be grape. I don't get any grape at all. I just get the same citrus from Zero Ultra, just slightly sweeter. 6/10
- Pacific Punch: You ever had Hawaiian Punch or fruit punch Kool Aid? It tastes just like that. I like, but it has way too much sugar. 8/10
- Pipeline Punch: NGL this is another one I find to be incredibly overrated. It's just OK. I think it's supposed to be a West Coast inspired fruit punch, and it's kinda mid. 7/10.
- Aussie Style Lemonade[D]: Another super beloved one, but it was nasty. It taste like artificial lemonades you would get in a can, like Minute Maid. It's sour, bitter, and tastes like cleaning products. It does seem like this one was subject to regional differences, so YMMV. 4/10.
- Viking Berry: Nordic berry inspired. It's fine. Not too much to say, I need to try it again. I just remember it being too sweet and kinda mid. 6/10
- Rehab Tea and Lemonade: My favourite of the Rehabs. It's black tea and lemonade. Simple, but classic. Not too sweet, but not too tart. A winner in my book. 9/10
- Rehab Peach Tea: Very similar to a Wawa or Snapple peach tea. Cheap but I like it. Not super easy to find anymore. 8/10
- Rehab Wild Berry Tea: Definitely my least favourite. Same as the peach tea, just replace "peach" with "berry." 7/10
- Ultra Wild Passion: Supposed to be passion fruit flavoured, but tastes of almost nothing. 6/10
- Bad Apple: A European exclusive for a bit, Bad Apple tastes like Angry Orchard without the alcohol. AKA apple juice. I liked it quite a bit, and it's one of the least sweet Juice Monsters out there. Best Juice Monster I've had so far. 9/10
- Electric Blue: Pure blue raspberry. I dig but damn that sugar content. I also keep calling it Shocking Blue for some reason. 8/10
- Ultra Blue[D]: Got really lucky trying this one. Similar to Ultra Wild Passion, it tastes of almost nothing. It's just a lighter version of Zero Ultra. It's kinda disappointing. 7/10
- Ultra Red: Supposed to be an Ultra fruit punch, but is more red berry, with a cross between strawberry, raspberry, and cranberry. Not a bad flavour profile by any means. I was super lucky to find it as well at the same liquor store that Ultra Blue came from. 8/10 kinda miss it honestly.
- Mango Loco: Wow this one made my teeth hurt. It is among the sweetest of the Juice Monsters. It tasted just like pure mango juice. It was good, but the high sugar content and natural acidity of the juice made my teeth hurt. 8/10
- Khaotic: Liquid orange tic tacs or one of those novelty energy drinks. So far, it was the only Monster I have not been able to finish. It was bad. Some of them also have orange pulp in them. Mine didn't, but it tasted off. 4/10
- Ultra Rosa[D]: A sweet combination of grapefruit, guava, and strawberry with a rose wine finish. Very elegant, sweet, and even floral. I am so bummed that this one got the boot. I even cut up the box to be my phone case insert. 9/10 requiem in pase sweet floral drink. Ultra Fantasy Ruby Red isn't anywhere near this good.
- Ultra Black: Ketchup and cough syrup. It was strange and not very good. I may have gotten a bad batch. I had to buy a case of it, as they are only available at Kroger stores. It got more tolerable, but it just wasn't good. 4/10
- Voodoo Grape: It's grape juice. Smooth, and fairly sweet, but not too bad. Voodoo and grape was certainly a choice, but it works. 8/10 second to Bad Apple for Juice Monsters.
- OG Strawberry Shot: Had almost no strawberry to it. Just a sweeter version of OG. 6/10. Similar to OG, the zero sugar variant is better.
- Lando Norris: Funky can, funky flavour. It's supposed to be yuzu melon, but I got more melon than citrus. Very similar to a melon ramune. 7/10 odd but alright.
- Ultra Red White and Blue Razz: One of two flavours created to celebrate America's 250th anniversary, this one is one of the more trend inspired flavours, with it being bomb pop flavoured. Yep, it tasted like a bomb pop alright. 7.5/10 very similar to the Liquid IV's that are also bomb pop flavored.
- Ultra Punk Punch: The flavour that dethroned Ultra Strawberry Dreams as #1 is essentially the sugar free variant of Pacific Punch. It's sweet and smooth, with a bitchin' can design to boot. 10/10
- OG Import: A far smoother and slightly less sweet version of OG, coming in a larger, resealable can. WAY BETTER than the American variant. It's so smooth. Fun fact: the sticker used for this can went on my iMac Roxy. It took me way too long to figure out the can mechanism. I ended up pulling on the seal, causing it to break in the can and spray Monster everywhere. I looked up how to do it, and all you do is spin the top. I felt so dumb lol. 8.5/10 best variation of OG out there.
- Strawberry Lemonade: Another limited edition Murica flavour. This one being based around another American summer treat: Strawberry lemonade. It's far sweeter than Aussie Lemonade, and a bit smoother too. Much like Strawberry Shot, I didn't really get much strawberry. It tasted like pink lemonade, which doesn't have a specific flavour profile. 7.5/10
- Rio Punch: OK I have no idea how to describe this one. It's sweet and creamy and fruity. It's defiantly the most unique flavours Monster has released. 7/10 I say try it for the experience
- Pappillion[Japanese Variant][D in the States]: So this one is a bit odd since this is a Japanese variation, but it was the only way I could get Pappillion. Peach and nectarine. Sweet and a little floral. Bummed that it got discontinued here, as this was so good! 8/10.
- Absolutely Zero[Japanese Variant][D]: Monster's first attempt at a zero sugar OG went very badly. It's very similar to Lo Carb in that it's sour and unpleasant. It left for a reason. 4/10
- Ultra Fiesta Mango[D]: A sugar free variation of Mango Loco that doesn't make my teeth hurt. Sadly, it's the most recent discontinuation as of right now. Massive sad. 8/10.
- Rehab Green Tea: It's just sweetened cheap green tea like you would get from Pure Leaf. It's fine. 7/10
