MOVIE REVIEW: CHARLIE'S ANGELS (2000)

This movie is the pinnacle of 2000s. If the subject of 2000s movies ever gets brought up this movie will be a the forefront of my mind.

My favorite element was definetely the aesthetic, besides the cultural insensitiveness of it all, the costumes, music, fight scenes were made splendidely. There was never a boring shot visually.

In terms of the story I found it to be sorttaaa non existent. Like it felt like a series of fun action, spy and rom com esque scenes spliced together under optimistic cgi and editing. But honestly I don't hate it at all. I found some parts kinda overly sexual  and not necessary. Like the massage scene and others. Not my jam.

This cast was also extrememly stacked. Cameron Diaz's character was for sure my favorite. Her character's joy and enthusiasim so contagious, especially during the soul train part scene. I'm happy she got the love interest she got, I found him very sweet and they had good chemistry.

All in all, it delivered.

This movie has for sure solidified my crush on Lucy Lu. Everytime she was on screen I was attentive. I first saw on Kill Bill and she was one of my favs, she was high on there.

To conclude, this movie is perfect to paint your nails to or put in the background while you reorganize your closet. It came here to be nonsensical and have fun and it fully succeded in that goal. In the same way youdon't expect to laugh during a horror movie, you shouldn't expect anything crazy in terms of narrative or writing. Just sit back , relax, and bask in the 2000s-ness of it all.

Best Regards,

Frederick :))
