so a WHILE ago i decided to ditch spotify and start using winamp instead (musicolet on my phone) and ngl thats one of the best decisions ive made.
all the songs are in a folder on my pc. i download mp3s from youtube with a site (ezrip my beloved), put em in a folder and its done.
why go through that struggle? well, i have my reasons.
1. nobody can take away my music! i have the files directly on my device, so if the song gets taken down, i still have it and can enjoy it with no issues.
2. i can listen to literally anything. not on streaming services due to being an obscure remix? its nightcored/daycored to perfection by me? boom. i dont have to deal with streaming not having it. fuck em.
3. i can edit the files in whatever way i want. i can trim the song, i can edit the audio to be louder, quieter, faster, slower, fucked up, EQ the file without touching the player's EQ, i can do anything and listen to it in whatever way i prefer.
i love the freedom. i dont think ill ever go back. sure, streaming is convenient, but i think id rather keep some friction in my life and have control of what i do :]

I love this and still long for an mp3,I will make it my goal to buy one for my birthday for sure ^^

I've never subscribed to a music streaming service and I've always had an old samsung with me that carried my many ripped MP3's from live shows, nightcore stuff and many other things you generally wont find on Spotify and such! It's served me greatly over the years and I don't ever intent on changing it up :3

damn dude, great idea. recently i revived my parents’ old iPod and im gonna start downloading mp3 files onto that, but i never considered doing the same on my phone.
they’re trying to keep music behind a paywall, and worse, under a subscription. suddenly in this modern society you don’t own anything anymore! keep it up and be free :]
