i already wrote about them on my spacehey (not really active there anymore due to everything) page last year (when i was beginning to get into their music), but i love their music so much and don't know a bunch of folks to chat about them with, so i can write about them a million times and not get bored. sorry for the long sentence, lolz.
at the drive-in are a post-hardcore band from el paso, tx. they were mainly active from 1994 to 2001, with five main members: cedric bixler-zavala, omar rodríguez-lópez, jim ward, paul hinojos, and tony hajjar.
in that seven-year period, they released three albums and four eps. my faves are relationship of command and vaya, but i have a soft spot for a few songs from every release. my all-time favorite song is cosmonaut.
last spring was my last semester of high school, laden with exhaustion and confusion about what's next in life. but at the drive-in's music made everything so much more manageable. the energy in their songs sort of reflected the chaos going on in my brain, so just listening to them made me feel more at ease and relaxed. cedric's lyrics are also interesting to pick apart and decipher, too. he has an unique way of describing things.
