Dear diary...
Hey!! Thank you so much for the love in my last blog. I wanted to show what I've been listening to recently...my top FIVES:
1. Movies - Weyes Blood
Do you know synaesthesia? Hearing notes or sounds that trigger specific colors? When I listen to this song, I feel everything. It makes me want to lie on the bed, run through a field of grass, and reflect my life at the same time. It also makes me see the colour purple, pink and electric blue, like the glitter they give you before you finish your slime.
2. Spaceboy- The Smashing Pumpkins
Okay. First: no bias. I LOVE The Smashing Pumpkins. I really love their experimental side as well, and some of their b-sides. Spaceboy is on one of my favourite albums (Siamese Dream Deluxe)... you can never skip the songs. To me, the song reminds me of when my friends and I played with firecrackers. :)
3. New York City - Adrienne Lenker
I love Adrienne Lenker so much. She was the one who introduced me to the entire genre- indie/contemporary folk. Her guitar and her voice are just so beautiful, and her lyrics are so well composed and intentional. It is such a grounding song, I usually listen to it when I am really overstimulated or need a break from the world.
4. Purple Teeth, The Bravery - Del Water Gap
I also LOVE Del Water Gap. I could listen to him all day. This song really resonated with me because of a relationship I had a few years ago. It helped process everything that happened afterwards, and I have only just started listening to it again. If you are interested in indie rock, I would defo recommend this to you!!
5. Where's Your Love Now - This is Lorelei
I have so much love for this song. It reminds me of when my friends and I went camping and sang around the campfire. Every lyric feels so intentional, and that is one of the main reasons I cherish this song- so, so, so much. If you really like guitar instrumentals, I would definitely recommend it.
So... these are my top 5 recents! What are yours?
