i originally planned to write this in my interests section but i... got too into it and wrote too much ( ꩜ 〰 ꩜ )
ENJOY THE YAPFEST!!
so, as aforementioned by the title, my absolute favorite games are:
the walking dead:
obviously the whole series is iconic, but for me it peaks at seasons 1
and 4. compared to the middle seasons the dynamic between the leads is
just more impactful.
like, season 1 has the bond between clem and
lee, and the 4th game has clem + aj + violet/louis. and suuuure, we have
kenny in the 2nd, okay, well... i am a kenny defender but its just not
the same, + i dont care for "a new frontier" sorry.
i am a clem
glazer (as is every other twd player), her personality is beautifully
developed. personally, i love the final season's boarding school,
although i do wish the game wasnt... as rushed as it was, well, we all
know what was going on while the final season was being produced, still,
i am pretty attached to the game despite the fact that it left a bit of
a sour taste in my mouth.
my favorite character in the whole series,
besides clementine and lee obviously, is louis, it will always be
louis. he's exactly who i would want by my side if i was stuck in the midst of a
zombie apocalypse: humorous, kind, talkative, massive amounts of
emotional maturity. he's just perfect.
and!! for chapter 2 to (possibly) do what it did to him... sickeninggggg, tearing up just thinking about it.
fear and hunger:
now, i personally love both the first funger and termina, but, god, i
looove termina. i think it's the perfect mix of punishing, complex, and
lore heavy. yet, compared to the first game, the characters are also much
more complex, not only is there a far more copious amount of characters
to begin with, but, their personalities are much better showcased
(mainly because of the "talk" action, rather than them only developing through their individual endings).
personally i love the lore behind the orphanage, it's sick and at the
same time unfortunately not... that farfetched?
one itty bitty detail (that unfortunately did not make it to existence) i absolutely love is the early design of father hugo and the discarded SUPPOSED marriage with the fallen cherub. while i understand the motivation behind it, as some people state that a marriage can only happen between consenting victims and that it was... just, a bad look, to have it implied with a fallen cherub, I STILL WISHED IT HAPPENED, like, funger as a whole breaks many boundaries and actually plays into loads of taboo subjects, it would have been a great way to showcase how rotten hugo is... although, its still very obvious... still, this marriage was no good, but the centaur was? make it make sense.
going back to the game: my favorite character
from termina is levi, i adore his moonscorched form, he's a very
tragic character and his story makes me love and feel for him a lot... i'll never let caligura bash your brains in bbg.. i got you.
child of light:
this game is basically a living fairy tale, but with waaaay more
emotional weight than i expected. the art style and the fact that
everything is written in rhyming verses are so stunning (i played once in italian and once in english, both languages have fantastic dialogues, although i have to say the italian one is far superior to the english one). what really hooked me was aurora's
growth. you start as this lost, vulnerable little girl and watch her
slowly transform into a capable leader. the world is beautiful, and the
companions you pick up along the way are so charming that you can't help
but get attached to all of them. it's a shorter, softer break from the
gritty stuff i usually play, but nonetheless i absolutely loved every
second of it.
i have a poster of this game in my room (that came from a limited promo/deluxe edition of the game iirc) along with an igniculus keychain, i particularly love the poster because it has such a different art style compared to the game, many people that have been in my room have said they find it creepy, i find it stunning i have no clue what their issues are.
tloz: ocarina of time:
okay, so, this game
is iconic for many reasons. for me it was also my first ever zelda series
game and i remember spending a straight month running around the first
area simply because the very first arachnid looking boss in the very
first domain scared me so much.. eventually, with probably 40 hours on
my cartridge simply from running around and hitting rocks (i was probably 9 i did not know any better), i ever so
sheepishly whined to my big brother until he beat the boss for me...
from that moment on, every other spider in the game was no trouble for
me, i dont know what i had against that specific one, it was probably
just... the eye... this damn game and eyes man...
i think the main reason why i love this game is nostalgia, but, its also just a generally great game.
the witcher 3:
love the way "grey morality" is handled here!! it's insane, one moment
you start a seemingly meaningless side quest, you think you're making
the kind, heroic choice, only to check back three hours later and
realize you accidentally caused a mini apocalypse for a local village...
i accidentally killed so many people during my many playthroughs....
everybody
already knows im about to talk about geralt and ciri... their dynamic
is... so earned and real?? it really does scratch that "found family"
itch my brain craves. there is a lot of psychological depth in this game
and it hooks me every time along with the huuuuge openworld, it literally hits
every single box for what makes me love a video game.
+ geralt is a hot dilf (real reason why i love the games and have spent 100+euros for the novels, i have been exposed.)
