The fabulous four of german pop, No Angels, just dropped a song for the end credits of a german film at midnight yesterday!
The song is called "perfect kind of us" and it's a RnB pop "everything is gonna be okay" type of cozy, christmassy, midtempo song. The first minute is quite boring and not as well produced but then it picks up in the last minute and the two main vocals Sandy and Nadja totally hit it out of the park!
Especially Sandy belts out this beautiful high F note in this super gospel-y way and I don't think I've heard her belt like that, with technique and all! And Nadja is super stable in the lower register, she used to sing in a gospel choir so she has a lot of power, like she usually has, Lucy sounded really good and got some high notes to herself too despite her vocal cord problems, and even Jessica, the "sub-vocalist" gets to sing the chorus. I am sooo happy the song turned out this way and I wouldn't have it any other way tbh. While I would love the production to be a little more crunchy and distinct (this does sound quite overpolished but at least they let the vocals ring out clear and loud) I appreciate especially the latter half of the song so much. I know there's some people who find it boring but I gotta be honest there's always gonna be folks who talk sooooooooooo yeah
AND! Nadja herself dropped!!!
It was such a surprise because it was midnight and she had not announced ANYTHING! I was running in circles in my room! Her song is a song she presented in her concerts back in February (and I was soo delirious and tired so I thought it was one of her old myspace demos LMAOOOO) I was posting on insta the whole time and another fan who follows my acc wrote me that Nadja dropped on Spotify and I WAS LIKE WHEREEEEEEE and omg she is sooo mother, like, in the real and figurative way, both. It's a wonderful continuation of her Schritt für Schritt sound and has absolutely beatiful lyrics. Her pen has improved so much I'm so proud.
TALKING ABOUT SCHRITT FÜR SCHRITT she is dropping an album next year! The title is going to be called "orangeblau" (orange blue) and she said it's been almost 3 years in the making. I expect a little more from her because her first album, abovementioned Schritt für Schritt, is my personal bible album. It means so much to me, her voice and her presence in the industry, her story and the strength and resilience she exhibits mean so much to me, and I love her songs, regardless of what she sings.
