New Music That I Love

I'm not sure if its because as I got older I started paying more attention to new music and I was only listening to 2000s music when I was younger or if the quality is improving but I feel like for fans of hardcore br00tal music, music is getting significantly better.

around 2017 I got into "emo" "scene" music and looking at previous spotify wrappeds, I only listened to older bands from the 2000s. My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Hawthorne Heights, Chiodos, Senses Fail, Three Days Grace. Newer alt bands never really captivated me. I always thought Twenty One Pilots was lame, new Panic! was quite shit same with Fall Out Boy.

I looked back at older music and yeah the 2010s werent that great. Dance Gavin Dance dropping mid, Architects also kinda blows, and I'm sorry but I am not a huge fan of BMTH from TTS-Amo. I feel like this was the decade scene bands just didnt know what to do in a post myspace and post warped tour world.

There are definitely some gems in the 2010s, Converge, Dillinger Escape Plan, Wormrot, but these arent really scene bands so I guess it doesnt fit in the same world of criticism.

But lately I have been excited for future releases, and there have been some genuine heaters that rivals a lot of 2000s albums. My taste is a lot less 90s/2000s focused and has a lot of newer bands. I would say my taste is a near even split with new and older music.

I cant stand much of 2010s deathcore but this last year we had some genuine deathcore heaters. Rev3rent, Psycho-Frame, Katywentmissing. And metalcore is also making albums that completely knocks anything from 2010s out of the water. Roman Candle, Anvichandelier, Crowquill, Dying Wish, Fromjoy, Fallingwithscissors. Chamber and Concealer too. I cant list every band but it feels like these bands just have so much more quality than bands in the same genre from 10 years ago.

And these newer releases look really promosing. No Cure is dropping an album soon, so is Converge. Our mates over at Bring Me The Horizon remaking Count Your Blessings, new Sleeping With Sirens is better than anything since Lets Cheers to This. this new Motionless In White album looks promising.

Im not sure what the point of this post is, if you havent heard of the bands I named they're sick by the way, if you have new bands i should check em out, let me know!

Kudos: 2
