new songs for band.... improvising is hard!

OK, im a percussionist, and my school has a "cinematic symphony" im apart of which is an orchestra band where we mostly play music from films. We just had our big competition of the year a few weeks ago, so that means NEW SONGS! the songs we got today are skyfall by adele, the avengers theme and the mission impossible theme. im on drumkit for all of them and i was nervous at first... im not full of myself or anything but i am pretty good at drumming, and ive def gotten better this year. i just hate playing with the orchestras LOL and, as the title says, i suckk at improvising. 

We will be performing mission impossible and avengers 2morrow. my conductor said to do whatever i want for avengers, so i did... but then she said not to add too much swing to it. if anyone has any recommendations lmk i guess hhaahaaa.

also for a different band im in we are playing a song with a rubber chicken part its really funny but we all have to go get rubber chickens to play with so i guess is should figure that out soon. 

and for my percussion band we're doing plug in baby by muse. very cool song! our conductor composes the songs himself. we did no one knows by queens of the stoneage earlier this year. anyway, its a pretty easy part, hopefully i can challenge myself on the kit soon. i desperately need to get better at practicing!

oh and the reason i was nervous being on drumkit is cuz i got intimidated by the chicago medley we had to sightread in the other band... like i said i suck at improvising and thats all the drummer in those jazzy swing songs does!!
