New Supergirl

Just got back from watching it, from the critic reviews I've been seeing literally everywhere I thought it was going to be really bad and I'd have to try ignore it when thinking about Gunn's DCU but it really wasn't?

Could everyone have been a little more intensely characterised? Yes, but it is still a kid's movie and if they'd gone much further into literally any character's backstory they would've had to change the rating

I think it's a victim of its own marketing personally, since every ad and all the merch I've seen has been focused on Krypto and Lobo despite them only appearing for a few scenes throughout the film - they definitely prepared their audience for a different experience which will have disappointed some people (a LOT can be said about focusing on the male side character in a woman's movie, obviously it was going to bring the wrong people) but I don't think it deserved to be so poorly reviewed so fast imo
