AFAIK the only "age gate" here is that creepy adults can't FRQ minors. And that's actually a good thing, you know. If you would take the time to actually read the safety page, you would know that the website actively prevents adults from FRQ and messaging minors, BUT ONLY IF YOU PUT IN YOUR CORRECT AGE.
Anything else claiming to be 18+ is probably people putting that in the descriptions of their groups, which again is for a good fucking reason. Like I don't think there's anything on here that won't let you participate in or see it if you're 13-17.
If you're mad that grown adults are rejecting your FRQs because you're a minor, then faking your age is not the answer. Not only will you get reported eventually when you slip up and reveal your real age, but if an adult talks to you like you're an adult and you get offended and start calling them a pedo, you're the dumbass in this situation because how are they supposed to know?? Unless, of course, you plaster it all over your profile that "THIS ISN'T MY REAL AGE, LOL" which, again, is just going to get you reported.
Just put your real age in. Seriously. And if you're so mad about having to say that you're under 18, then just wait until you're actually 18 to make a profile.
For real, I'm tired of clicking on people's profiles thinking they're an adult and seeing "oh btw, that's not my real age, I'm actually 15 lol." You're getting reported, end of.
Be fucking responsible. We are not your babysitters, we are not your parents.

i think its fine if they set their age to be like a year off from what their actual age is, like if theyre 14 and set it to 15, but if theyre a minor they should NOT be setting their age to 18+, it just makes it more likely to get preyed on or exposed to innapropriate content. same if an adult is setting their age to 18 or under.

I still advocate for the idea I posted in the forums a while back as well, an optional opt-in toggle for adult users to make their profiles inaccessible to people under 18 if they wanted. Cuz man, I have MDNI all over my profile, and still half the frq I get are people under 18 who think they'll be the exception. (╥﹏╥)
Though apparently that idea was a spark for controversy, and something about censorship and... age gatekeeping... or... whatever. So. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I mean, it's great in theory but I guess people are thinking that it would require ID verification, which is a hot button topic right now because the gov is using it to censor the internet and corpos are using it to collect data, and there have been way too many cases of people's data being leaked online from these corpos who claim that they delete your data or that they keep your data secure.

My memory is bad but I think you have the option to not show or not put in your age? So I would assume people could just to that if there's any paranoia about it. I say this because so far I had to report two profiles so far that said they were 18+ yet in their bios say "I'm 15" or "I'm a minor"
Like at first I thought maybe they use fake ages just to avoid uncomfortable situations like having creeps message them, but if they don't show their age then they wouldn't be targeted so that doesn't make sense. But then if they're still stating they're under 18 in their profile then I don't know what the point of the fake age is in the first place.
Because other social medias will block content for people under 18, but some social media websites will incorrectly mark harmless things as 18+. So I'm thinking that they're trying to avoid being "age restricted" so they can see things that are incorrectly tagged or trying to access age restricted content. And they clarify that they're actually minors so people don't mistake them for adults.
But FR doesn't have any age restricted content...and even if they did, setting your age as 18+ but still clarifying that you're a minor is...not smart.
